SMART Board Orientation

SmartBoard orientation

The orientation of the Smart Board interactive screen allows the computer to know in which part of the board the image will be projected. You must perform this process in the following situations:

a) When installing and configuring the SMART Board

b) When moving the SMART board or the projector

c) When the interactive screen fails to interpret your touches well

Ink Aware

You can write and draw directly with your digital pen in Ink Aware files. You can insert your notes, such as text or graphics, instead of writing to the digital ink layer. You must have in mind that you can write anywhere in the document, you must touch the board where you want to insert the writing, and you must save what is written in the document

File and page management

In SMART Notebook, you can create or open .notebook files, and after completing the work to be done in the file, you can save and print it. Each .notebook file consists of several pages, each with its own objects and properties.

– You can create a new file by selecting File > New.

– To open an existing file, you must press Open file, select the desired file and touch Open.

– You can view the pages of a file using the Page Sorter. You can also use the Sorter to duplicate pages; create, open, delete, and change the name of a page.

– With the Page Sorter you can also reorganize your page or create a group of them.

Last, but not least, you can export your .notebook files to image formats (BMP, FIG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF), PowerPoint files, .pdf files, .CFF files and web pages.

Screen shade

SmartBoard Screen Shade

Sometimes a teacher wants to hide part of the board to the students to reveal hidden information. For that there is the tool Show / Hide Screen Shadow. We will design an activity in which we gradually provide more information and ask the student to identify a character or geographic location (for example) with the least amount of data possible. With the Text tool, we pose the question and write a series of clues, displacing the screen shade to reveal the tracks gradually.

To create a table, simply click on the Table tool and choose the number of columns and rows that we need. Then we will write what we want in each cell with just double click on it. So, for example, we can create a table that asks to identify works of art.

If you want to customize a table, you can select it for later:
– Move the table
– Change line, fill, and text type properties
– Change table size
– Split or combine cells
– Delete a table

Add external files and links

The teacher can attach consultation files, shortcuts and links of web pages to a SMART Notebook file in order to keep their documents organized and improve and complement the development of the class. There are three types of attachments that can be added to a .notebook file:

a) Copy of the file
b) Direct access to the file
c) Hyperlink

You can access the attachments by going to the respective tab.

SMART Lab is a set of interactive activities very useful to improve your classes and make them more entertaining. These activities help students memorize concepts and data, identify objects, learn definitions, and more.

Some of these activities are:

a) Lifting letters: the cards of raising letters teach direct correspondence, memory and vocabulary. In this activity, the teacher can use how many faces they want and choose between different topics.

b) Super classification: this activity teaches classification and grouping. Students must classify elements into two categories. The element will disappear if the student classifies it in the correct category and it will be returned to be reclassified in case of error.

c) Fill the gaps: in this fun activity students should drag words or numbers to the gaps. The teacher should write a sentence that has up to 10 blank spaces and the students should try to complete the missing information.

d) Reveal labels: in this activity, the teacher places small groups of students to identify the parts of an element.

e) Accelerate: it is a race test with multiple choice questions and true or false. Whoever responds faster and can finish the race first, wins. Accelerates helps you compete and think fast.

f) Don´t shut up! : In this activity, students can quickly create and contribute text and images to SMART Lab content activities using their smartphones. It is similar to a brainstorming activity.
